OLLIE MEAKIN

INSTRUCTOR

Reason for starting Blaze: I started Blaze at the age of five because of my Dad. He used to train karate in our garage and from the age of three I would always go out and want to train with him. He was a big believer in learning martial arts for self-defence, confidence and discipline so as soon as he found Blaze, he signed me straight up.

    Reason for starting coaching

Since I was a young boy my dream has always been to be able to teach my own kickboxing classes, so it only seemed right that I began that journey as soon as I could. After passing my ‘Junior 2nd Dan Black Belt’ I quickly asked Justyn if I could start coaching the children’s classes. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than being able to pass on my knowledge to help students better their skills and watch them grow as a person and a student.

    Best kickboxing moment

The following moments that come to mind are my most proudest: Firstly, passing all five of my Black Belt gradings. The feeling of getting through six (plus) hours of intensive grading fills me with immense pride. Another moment which I have to include was when I achieved 2nd place in the 2016 Cimac Super League. At 17 years of age, achieving second place proved my abilities as a competitive fighter, especially after competing in the adults category against fighters who were older and more experienced than I was.
